Your Carpet Experts

It might seem challenging but it’s possible to restore your carpet’s vibrancy and fullness. The softness and elasticity start to diminish over time, which could make the room look dull.

As a homeowner, you would want to enjoy and retain that plush feel beneath your feet. So, it would be best to follow this advice and restore the fluffiness your carpets once had.

How To Make Your Carpets Fluffy Again

Quick Clean with Baking Soda and Salt

Vacuum the carpet and sprinkle it liberally with a one-to-one mixture of baking soda and table salt. Spritz the sprinkled area with plain water from a spray bottle and use a nylon-bristled scrub brush to work the mixture into the fibers.

Blot away the loosened soil with old towels and let the carpet air dry. Vacuum well to remove any remaining baking soda and salt and to lift the fibers.

Clean With Vinegar and Water

As an alternative to using a commercial carpet stain remover, mix 1 part of distilled white vinegar and 3 parts of cold water in a spray bottle. Vacuum the carpet well. Working in a small 3-foot by 3-foot area, spray the vinegar solution onto the carpet until it’s very damp.

Allow the solution to work for five minutes to break down the soil. Use microfiber cloths to blot away the solution and the soil. Rinse the clothes frequently in plain water. Allow the carpet to air-dry and vacuum again to lift the fibers. Source: The Spruce

Steaming

Steam cleaners can loosen dirt and debris trapped in the carpet, which is easier for you to clean. Steam cleaning is a great method for grooming techniques: brushing the carpet after steaming it can fluff up the carpet’s fibers.

A clothing iron is a viable substitute for steam cleaners. Spray the area of the carpet you intend to fluff with a mixture of one part vinegar and three parts water. Then, set your iron to steam and low heat to avoid damaging the fibers.

Bring the fluff back to your carpet by placing a light-colored towel over the area and ironing it in a circular motion for 10-20 seconds. Don’t iron directly onto the carpet. It can irreparably burn the fibers. Repeat as much as needed, then vacuum to return the fluff. Source: Eurobel

Ice cube method

  1. Scatter ice cubes all over the matted area. Make sure that they are evenly distributed with equal distance between each cube.
  2. Let the ice melt completely. If needed wait for a few hours.
  3. Use a white cloth or a non-colored paper tower to blot the excess water
  4. Let the rest air dry
