Your Carpet Experts

If you have slippery floor tiles, you understand how slippery and dangerous it can be.

It’s a good thing that you don’t have to necessarily change your floor tiles right away just to get rid of the slippery issues. There are other alternatives you can try to ensure you’ll be making it safe for everyone without having to spend tons of money on it.

Each option can cater to everyone’s taste especially if you don’t want to ruin the aesthetic of your interior in doing so. You can check out the following so that you can find what suits your floor tiles the best.

How To Deal with Slippery Floor Tiles

  1. Use rugs or carpet runners

One of the simplest ways to make your tile floor less slippery is to place area rugs or carpet runners over the tile. I’m highlighting this method first because it’s the one that takes the least amount of effort.

This solution is ideal for sections of the floor near sinks, entryways, hallways, bottom of stairs, and large open rooms.

It’s easy to present rugs and carpet runners as intentional design choices, as well.

Small carpets and rugs are inexpensive, easy to clean, and can be found in just about any style imaginable. A quick search on Amazon or Walmart.com reveals dozens of options and something for every budget.

The main issues you may encounter when using this method are the limited coverage presented by rugs and the potential need for an adhesive, such as double-sided tape or plastic matting, to avoid fabric slippage once the rug or runner is in place.

It’s not feasible to cover the entire tile floor with area rugs and carpet runners; therefore, this doesn’t completely solve the problem. However, if there’s one small area of your tile floor that gets especially slippery, this is a quick and inexpensive solution. Source: Prudent Reviews

  1. Using anti-slip solution

One of the best and easiest ways to make your tile floor non-slippery is through anti-slip solution. Some examples of anti-slip solutions for tiles are InvisaTread, Liquid Traction, and Slip Grid. Anti-slip solutions work by adding traction and reducing slipperiness.

Make sure to use a good quality anti-slip solution. Otherwise, the anti-solution will make your tiles less slippery, but will also ruin the texture of your floor tiles.

  1. Anti-slip treads

If you are looking for an inexpensive solution to make your tile flooring less slippery, consider using anti-slip treads. Apart from being cost-effective, another good thing about anti-slip treads is that they make the tile floor non-slip without affecting the original surface of the tiles.

Besides this, they are removable as well. In future, if you want to remove and want to try something else, you can easily get rid of this solution without damaging the surface.

However, the main problem is anti-slip tread solutions are not as durable as non-slip treatments. Thus, in terms of effectiveness, you might have to compromise somewhat. Source: Tiles Wale

It is highly recommended to use floor cleaner that are designed for degreaser effect. Take note of any slippery ingredients that may be inside floor cleaner that will make the floor more slippery in a long run.

  1. Keep the flooring dry at all times

Always keep the floor as dry as possible. You can use a wet and dry vacuum, floor scraper, cloth or rug. So that the flooring dry faster. Source: Anti Slip Solutions
